There have been a couple of reasons why I haven't blogged recently. Due to mostly laziness, and a little thing called Rosh Hashana, and a slightly bigger thing called internet malfunction, I have not blogged for about a week.
Shanah Tovah Umetuka, to Everyone!
To recap the week....
Thursday I had my first college final. It went extremely well and I should receive my grade no later than Sunday. Friday held my 2nd final and that went slightly less fantastic, but still very good. I'm really starting to get the hang of this study thing. On shabbat I davened at the Great Synagogue, both Kabbalat Shabbat and Shacharit. It was an uplifting experience. I really enjoy listening to the Chazan and the choir, even if it's a very orthodox service. Saturday afternoon was spent studying for my 3rd and final final (:)). On Sunday I took that final and I performed well. Monday we had a couple of Rosh Hashana seminars and then I bought my first acoustic guitar. It's awesome and I'm enjoying every minute of it. Then erev Rosh Hashana I went and davened with everyone on nativ it was amazing. We then walked over to the parents of Gilad Shalit who were having Rosha Hashana dinner outside of the Prime Minister's house for the first time since the kidnapping. It was an awesome experience. His dad talked to us and said that it's great that we have so much support and also told everyone not to have a seat at their table for Gilad, because they want him at their table. It was amazing
Rosh Hashana was awesome, services were swift and painless, the meals were more than I needed and the company was fantastic.
until next time

So, tell me about your geehtahr!
L'Shana Tovah to you in Israel! We missed you. Yes, tell us about your guitar. Is it easily shleppable? Does it have a case? Since you purchased a guitar, are you cutting back on your shwarma consumption?
Love, Mom
The dogs got me up at 4 am to eat and I wanted Joanne to sleep so here I am.... congratulations on the good grades may they continue. Will look forward to music from you when you are back in the states. As you travel around it would nice to see some pictures of the area. Are you playing any basketball? Understand the food in the Frank Sinatra cafeteria is good, what do they serve? When we were in Israel we did not find the food memorable... too salty and fatty. Basketball starts soon and college football is all up in the air with many upsets and more to come. We all think of you and Callie is almost big enough to ride not really but she is big now.
The guitar is an acoustic fandec, it's european, it's awesome, i bought a case and extra strings, it was an expensive excursion but I believe it will be worth it. I need to take more pictures. thanks everyone, I haven't been playing basketball all that much, It's a little bit of a schlep, classes start on sunday.
Wow... all this is making me wish I was back on Nativ. If you still have a chance to choose your real classes try to get into the Israeli Government class that is one night a week. I took that when I was there and found out that the professor of the class was an assistant to the speaker of the Knesset. Twice he got us into the Knesset, and we got to see the actual building, not just the public viewing gallery. ALSO DO NOT TAKE YIDDISH unless you already know it, German or Russian.
Don't forget that you have a large amount of shuls around. I tried to go to a new one each week. You may wind up in a shul where you don't have a clue what is going on for Davening, but the cultural experience is great.
Shanah Tovah,
Arin and Julia Lipman (your consulers)
