So it's Sunday night and most of NATIV is out watching the football games at verious venues. I'm stuck here about to go to bed and get a better nights sleep than most will tonght. I take pride in that. It was a good day today, turned in my two essays, had another assigned due Tuesday. For dinner I bought some salami, turkey, dijon mustard, mayo, french bread with raisins and nuts for 80 NIS. That should keep me with dinners for about another 6 days, it's a good price and I need to start saving my money and my calries. Any suggestions on quick and easy meals? Thanks

I thought you got meals in the cafeteria?
Based on what you bought, all I can think of are salami sandwhiches and turkey sandwiches.
Cheap meals include rice, beans, pasta, basic salads, and fresh veggies. Also, limit yourself to 3oz of meat per sandwich and eat just one per meal. NO junk food, soda, or beer. Felafel is probably cheaper than schwarma and schnitzel.
The best deal is to get invited to Israeli homes for meals. Those imahot won't let you go hungry.
Like your parents we too are concerned. The processed food you are eating is heavy on salt, fat, refined grain and missing in fruits and veggies and an overall balanced diet. Wouldn't the cafeteria be a better place to eat and meet people than carting food back to the dorm and eating easy meals? This is also a way to gain weight. Do you have a friend who you can buddy up with for meals and not eat in your room? What are you doing for exercise? Are you playing any organized basketball or volleyball? Setting a routine for yourself is important... it can be as simple as getting up for morning minyan to start the day..Judaism is actually good for a daily routine if that helps. Didn't realize the NFL was so popular in Israel or maybe it is just with students from the states?
The season is upside down already with the Colts and Patriots loosing and looking weak. Cowboys and Denver are out fast and it is a must win for the Chargers tonight. LT is hurting and my not be effective this season. Yankee stadium closed last night with the Yanks beating Baltimore. Torrey will probably be in the playoffs with the Dodgers and the Yanks are out.
Was at Beth El this past Friday night and it was packed as it was the erev Shabbat for Berkson's son's Bar Mitzvah. Found the new sanctuary very confining and the seats did not allow me enough leg room to sit forward. It was nice to see many past shul friends and to pray with them. Many of the old regulars seem to be missing.
Dogs are growing. Callie stepped on a bee and got hurt and had to take her to the doggie hospital for shots and stinger removal. She is fine. Jenner is running around like mad and just got me up at 4:15am so I am going back to bed.
Would love to see some pictures of Jerusalem, your campus and your friends. Hope you enjoyed the symphony. It was an acquired taste for me and now is a major source of pleasure.
